VDR Gene Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms and Autoimmunity: A Narrative Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

The vitamin D/Vitamin D receptor (VDR) axis is crucial for human health as it regulates the expression of genes involved in different functions, including calcium homeostasis, energy metabolism, cell growth and differentiation, immune responses. In particular, D/VDR complex both innate adaptive immunity. Autoimmune diseases are believed to arise from a genetic predisposition presence triggers such hormones environmental factors. Among these, role Vitamin molecules correlated its functions has been repeatedly suggested. Four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) VDR gene, ApaI, BsmI, TaqI, FokI, have associated with autoimmune disorders. particular SNP alleles genotypes, thus, was observed modulate likelihood developing diverse conditions, either increasing or reducing it. this work, we will review scientific literature suggesting these factors pathogenesis conditions summarize evidence indicating possible involvement onset diseases. A better understanding molecular mechanisms linking autoimmunity might be extremely useful designing novel therapeutic avenues

Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms and Association Studies: A Few Critical Points

Uncovering DNA sequence variations that correlate with phenotypic changes, e.g., diseases, is the aim of sequence variation studies. Common types sequence variations are Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP, pronounced snip).SNPs are the third-generation molecular marker. SNP represents a DNA sequence variant of a single base pair with the minor allele occurring in more than 1% of a given popula...

VDR gene single nucleotide polymorphisms and their association with risk of oral cavity carcinoma.

Vitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3 (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3)) is a hormone playing a crucial role in numerous biological processes in the human body, including induction and control of cell proliferation and differentiation. Numerous data relate the vitamin D3 level with various types of cancer. It has been suggested that SNPs in the vitamin D3 receptor (VDR) gene might influence both the risk of cancer ...

CTLA4 Gene Variants in Autoimmunity and Cancer: a Comparative Review

Gene association studies are less appealing in cancer compared to autoimmune diseases. Complexity, heterogeneity, variation in histological types, age at onset, short survival, and acute versus chronic conditions are cancer related factors which are different from an organ specific autoimmune disease, such as Grave’s disease, on which a large body of multicentre data is accumulated. For years t...

Single nucleotide polymorphisms and disease gene mapping

Single nucleotide polymorphisms are the most important and basic form of variation in the genome, and they are responsible for genetic effects that produce susceptibility to most autoimmune diseases. The rapid development of databases containing very large numbers of single nucleotide polymorphisms, and the characterization of haplotypes and patterns of linkage disequilibrium throughout the gen...

The Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the C-reactive Protein Gene: are they Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Risk?

Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies have revealed the C-reactive protein gene (CRP) is related to the degree of acute rise in plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. Moreover, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CRP gene could associate with increased risk of cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, obstructive pulmonary disease,...
